“Serving Humanity to Honor God”

This mission also includes Methodist Healthcare Ministries’ one-half ownership of the Methodist Healthcare System – the largest healthcare system in South Texas. This creates a unique avenue to ensure the Methodist Healthcare System continues to be a benefit to the community by providing quality care to all and charitable care when needed, and it provides revenue to Methodist Healthcare Ministries for its programs.

SERVICES OFFERED: Uninsured, or underserved

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Wesley Nurse is a faith community nurse that uses a holistic approach (mind, body and spirit) to help the community in many ways, such as free services that encourage a healthy lifestyle to all members of the community. Program and services include: health education,
individualized diabetes education and diabetes testing supplies, referral assistance, referrals to
other resources. The Wesley Nurse also offers a diaper program to parents that are in need of
assistance with diapers.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: All eligible

COST TO CLIENT: Completely free, never a charge for any service provided.
