The South Texas Asthma Coalition (STAC) is an all-volunteer charitable tax-exempt community-based organization whose mission is to improve the health of individuals with asthma through raising public awareness of asthma and through outreach and education to the community, physicians, and others. STAC members include individuals with asthma, health professionals, school nurses, representatives of health plans, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and community organizations. The coalition has held workshops and conferences for school nurses and was instrumental in developing a community-wide asthma action plan to be used in the schools.
