Mission and Vision
OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to show the love of Christ to each and every child and family to whom we serve and beyond. We do this by creating a culture where the needs of children, families, and staff are seen and met in creative and innovative ways.
OUR VISION:
The Retreat Home For Children provides a Christ-centered, residential center for girls in a time of crisis. We provide hope and healing through support of foster care services, relational advocacy, trauma-informed care in a home environment while pursuing family restoration. We seek to influence and equip others who share a similar calling to impact children, families and future generations.
Description
The Retreat is a Residential Treatment and Assessment Center for child victims of human trafficking and exploitation. Located in Kendall County we serve this region's youth in crisis. The cost of care is high, and we face struggles with the delay of reimbursement from the state contracts we hold. We hope to expand in the near future to serve more youth who are desperately in need of our services.
TRAFFICKED AND EXPLOITED
Survivors have experienced complex emotional, physical, and sexual trauma requiring specific treatment interventions. Survivors experience emotional, behavioral, and mental health symptoms that often go unidentified or misdiagnosed. Without proper support and treatment the risk for being re-victimized is high. Through The Retreat Program, survivors receive treatment and support to address safety needs, gain understanding of the victimization they have experienced, improve self-esteem, develop motivation for change, improve life skills, and empower them to reach future goals.
MENTAL HEALTH AND RECOVERY
The Retreat is full of people who want to help. We work to help the children by providing services to those who need them. Residential Treatment Centers (RTC) are facilities that provide 24-hour 7-day-a-week therapeutic care for children with emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders. Care includes medication management, therapeutic treatment, and appropriate schooling for children with severe mental and emotional issues.
