Mission and Vision
We are the Good Samaritan Center (GSC), a charitable medical, dental and mental-health clinic meeting critical health needs for Gillespie County and some of our surrounding area through direct care and community partnerships (Blanco, Gillespie, Kimble and Mason counties, as well as the towns of Comfort and Brady).
Our mission is to provide a safe, Christ-centered environment that gives our patients quality, coordinated, and affordable health care. All are welcome.
GSC provides a safety net for the uninsured working poor. Our services and programs help keep employees at work and students in school. Improving the quality of life for our patients through coordinated care, disease prevention and health/wellness information and promotion is why we are here. We know a healthy population is a vital element in a dynamic community like ours.
Description
GSC fulfills 2,100 Medical appointments a year.
> We treat a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. Through our partnerships with area doctors and treatment centers, we afford our patients access to specialists and complicated procedures that would be otherwise unobtainable.
> By encouraging patients to come to GSC, we are reducing congestion at our local hospital's ER, a real win-win situation since ER visits are an expensive prospect for everyone.
> Our award-winning Medication Assistance Program (MAP) supplies prescription drugs at an affordable cost to patients who cannot afford to pay for their needed long-term medications.
> We provide nearly $1 million each year in essential prescription medications to our patients through prescription-assistance programs offered by different pharmaceutical companies.
> We keep patients with chronic illnesses healthy, enabling them to continue living productive lives.
> Our bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) sees about 140 appoints each year.
Each year, GSC fulfills nearly 1,400 Dental appointments.
> We alleviate pain and help patients save their teeth.
> Services offered at the GSC dental clinic include fillings and routine extractions. We also provide cleanings and advice on good dental hygiene practices to prevent future problems.
GSC's new Community Health Worker (CHW) reaches out to patients where they live with information and education about physical and mental wellness.
Volunteers are a critical part of our work and work in the areas of: Front Desk, Dental Clinic, Medication Room, Office and Landscaping.
