Mission and Vision

MISSION:
We are an accepting church family being transformed by encounters with God's love, growing in faith, and serving all.

VISION:
ENCOUNTER – We are invited and we invite others to encounter the transforming love of God. To gather as one body and experience God’s presence. In this time and place. In one another. In ourselves.

GROW – We are made to grow and thrive in our faith. To seek a deeper understanding of God’s love for us. To dig deep roots so our branches can reach out even further.

SERVE – We are called to serve one another, our church, our neighbors, and our world. To share the transforming power of God’s love with all we encounter. To bring hope, peace, and provision to those in need.

The following are some of the ways we serve our community outside of our walls. Contact the church office for more information: (830) 249-2565 or email info@fumc-boerne.org .

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: offers homework help and mentoring to elementary school students who have been identified by their school counselors and teachers as needing a little extra help to succeed at school. The students play outside, eat a healthy snack, attend chapel, work on homework for 60 minutes and participate in a variety of enrichment activities on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Volunteers are always needed to help with time commitments beginning at just 1 hour.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY: a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addiction of any kind. In Celebrate Recovery, you will find a safe place to experience community and freedom from the issues that are controlling your life. We meet every Thursday in the Christian Education Building Lounge with dinner at 6:30, recovery talk (teaching, testimonies, and group discussion), small open share group meetings, plus fellowship and dessert after groups. To learn more about Celebrate Recovery, please visit www.celebraterecovery.com.

GOLFERS FORE OTHERS: operating for more than 20 years, provides free home repair and renovations for low-income homeowners. Over the years, Golfers Fore Others has completed over 500 projects in the Boerne community and in 2017, AARP Texas recognized Golfers Fore Others with the Andrus Award, their highest honor for a volunteer organization. If interested in getting involved with this ministry, please contact Fred Martin (830-981-8410) or the church office (830-249-2565).

GOSPEL CAFE: a once-a-week ministry on Wednesdays that allows FUMC to cook and deliver meals to anyone who is in need and requests a meal. We have opportunities for people who enjoy cooking, washing dishes, delivering meals, or grocery shopping at Sam’s Warehouse. Teams cook approximately two times a month. Also, we always need substitute cooks, drivers, and donations.

HEART-2-HEART: a local outreach ministry of FUMC Boerne in connection with Hill Country Daily Bread. We develop a mentorship relationship with a family or young person in need, share food, clothing, and other resources provided by Hill Country Daily Bread, and serve as partners in our mentee’s spiritual journey.

MISSION BASKETS: Donation baskets are used to collect items for some of our mission partners: Mission Border Hope, Hill Country Daily Bread, Hill Country Family Service, Hill Country Mission for Health, and Boerne Community Coalition. You can find donation stations in the narthex, near the church offices, and in the Family Life Center. View the needed items online, fumc-boerne.org/mission-baskets/.

STEPHEN MINISTRIES: offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties.
Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by their Stephen Leaders to offer care to people who are hurting. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week for about an hour. VISIT STEPHENMINISTRIES.ORG
